Entitled ‘Leaf’, this subtle work of dry lacquer exhibits a beautiful evocation of a single, drying leaf. Its carved, striated, surface is decorated with a rich palette of red and black lacquer that achieves a unique and densely textured design. Kosen, from Toyama, was active through the latter part of the 20th century, his work being accepted for exhibition at the Nitten on a number of occasions.
